New York, James Miller, 1854. 1st Edition, 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Hardcover. 90pp. Gilt embossed brown boards, gilt lettering and floral design to spine, 5 hand-colored engraved plates. Cover shows very slight wear, chipping to head and tail of spine, small insect holes to rear joint, binding is tight and sound, an occasional spot to text otherwise clean, 1864 inscription on front free endpaper, book is overall in a well-preserved condition. Good.

London, Foulis, 1926. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Hardcover. 48pp+12 illustrations. Grey paper over boards, linen-backed spine, paper labels to cover and spine. Boards are faded at edges, a small indentation to top and to bottom of front board (probably was tied tightly in a bundle). Preliminary pages are foxed and rest of contents are age-toned but unmarked. There are 12 charming color illustrations teaching children morals -- Charitable Louisa, Envy, Politeness, Offensive Manners, etc. Scarce dustjacket is soiled, darkened at spine and edges, worn, chipped and missing a 1" piece at top of spine. Spine has an ink smudge and a small label with a number. Dustjacket has the same illustration as the frontispiece pasted to front. Good/Fair.

Contents are clean and mildly age-toned, endapers more heavily age-toned, but all text and illustrations are bright and clear, former owner's named stamped on front endpaper. Nursery rhymes accompanied by tasteful, adorable illustrations. Good.
